The Dritel range of special purpose communication
products is manufactured to exacting standards by KJ Precision Engineering Pty
Ltd at their Brisbane factory. KJ Precison Engineering Pty Ltd was founded in
1960 and their first involvement in the emergency telephone manufacturing
business was in 1978 when they commenced supplying telephone casings to Ericsson
(later to become AWA).
In 1994, after acquiring the necessary electronic
technology, KJ Precision Engineering took over the complete component
manufacture and assembly of the ANSA Mark III range of emergency telephones from
AWA. This was closely followed by the launch of the Dritel brand of
telephones.
An engineer and the managing director of the company since
1994, Peter Thompson is the son of the company's founders, Kenneth and Judy
Thompson. Having trained and risen through the ranks, Peter has been associated
with all facets of engineering and production. He was the driving force behind
the company's move into the telecommunications sector and continues to be
responsible for the design, engineering, and production of the Dritel
range.
Today, after 50 years of operation, KJ Precision Engineering still
enjoys an enviable reputation for engineering excellence and quality products
and Dritel is synominous with quality in emergency phones.
